About Us

Canine Specialty Services is family owned and operated by Gary Genova. Gary is a full time sworn Law Enforcement Officer with 20 years experience training Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue Canines in a wide variety of training disciplines. Gary has trained canines in areas of patrol, tracking, rural and urban rescue, and various detection duties such as narcotics, cadaver, explosives, and wildlife. During his tenure in the Criminal Justice Profession Gary has been engaged in training and supervising Law Enforcement and SAR canine teams in Vermont, Providence of Quebec and throughout New England.

Gary has handled a number of police k9 partners to include; "Buck", a German Shepherd trained as a Dual Purpose Canine (Patrol/Narcotics Detection) and "Corey" a Labrador Retriever in Explosives Detection. He currently handles "Aiko", a German Shepherd being trained for Trailing, and Narcotics Detection.

Gary is a certified Instructor through the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council (VCJTC), New England State Police Administrator�s Conference (NESPAC), and is the State Coordinator for the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA).

Gary is a co-founder and member of the Vermont Police Canine Association, a non-profit organization which provides training and financial assistance to Law Enforcement Canine Teams in Vermont, Quebec, and throughout New England. Gary is the current President and serves on the Board of Directors of Northeast Wilderness Search and Rescue Inc. (NEWSAR), a non-profit organization providing no-cost and low-cost training to search and rescue volunteers throughout the Northeast US. As part of his duties Gary is responsible for the management of a Central Registry of qualified SAR resources made available to Law Enforcement during search and rescue missions. Gary is M.L.P.I certified by the National Association for Search and Rescue.

Gary is a member of the law enforcement and search and rescue community and has a firm understanding of the resources and training it takes to preserve personal protection, affect rescue, and promote public safety. In applying his experience Gary has worked with handlers throughout the working canine field and continues to appreciate the opportunity to share knowledge and enhance his own. It is a privilege for C.S.S. to contribute to the enhancement and promotion of the working canine profession.

Our goal at Canine Specialty Services is not to compete with Legitimate Criminal Justice Canine Training Organizations but provide an alternative. C.S.S. provides high quality affordable training services with diverse flexibility. We encourage our law enforcement clients to work closely within their own criminal justice training organizations. When direct criminal justice training opportunities are not available, we hope you consider putting your trust in Canine Specialty Services.

Our personal protection and corporate security canine training programs are comprehensive. We offer our services to legitimate agencies and individuals demanding un-compromised protection and safety.

Canine Breeding

Canine Specialty Services strives to produce excellence and the highest standards of temperament and physical soundness in our breeding program. Stud and bitch candidates are selected based on temperament, superior working ability, confirmation, certified hips/elbows, and complete health evaluations.

Available litters, puppies, green dogs, and trained candidates are routinely listed on our site.
